Lyster Preventive Medicine Department

Preventive Medicine provides comprehensive public health support to counter environmental, occupational disease threats to the health and readiness of Army Units and installation personnel.

Services Offered:

  • Provides Education and Counseling to Beneficiaries:

    • Sexually Transmitted Infection Education and Counseling

    • Latent Tuberculosis Infection Education and Counseling

    • Infectious Disease Education and Counseling

    • HIV Education and Counseling

  • Serves as the Health Consultant for Child and Youth Services

  • Serves as a Consultant for the Special Needs Accommodation Process (SNAP)

  • Responsible for Epidemiological Investigations regarding all Bloodborne Pathogens, Communicable Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections

  • Provides classes to units on post and civilian employees

Civilian Fitness Program

The Civilian Fitness Program is a one-time enrollment Department of the Army (DA) approved program in which full-time civilians employed by the Army are encouraged to engage in regular program of exercise and other positive health habits. The goal is to initiate and maintain healthy behavioral changes via pre and post assessments with the utilization of exercise, nutrition, and wellness programs available on Fort Rucker. Supervisors may approve up to 3 one-hour wellness/fitness sessions each week during normal work hours for a consecutive 6 month period.
